Privacy notice

Mirage Accuracy · As of 7 October 2026

Mirage Accuracy works offline. There is no account, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics. This notice explains which data the app processes, why, and your rights (Art. 13 GDPR). When it changes, the app shows the new version on its next start.

Who is responsible

Controller: Dr. Robin Hilgers (handsomeSoftware), Germany; the postal address is in the Impressum. E-mail for every privacy question: handsomesoftware@proton.me. The mailbox is hosted by Proton AG in Switzerland, which has an EU adequacy decision.

Data on your device

Rifles, loads, settings and the last conditions are stored only on this device. Nothing is sent to us. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it; exported files stay where you saved them.

Location and weather

Only when you tap sync on the Weather tab does the app read your location; this is part of the service you ask for (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). Latitude and altitude are stored on the device. To fetch the weather, your position (rounded to about 10 m) is sent to MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute, api.met.no, in the EEA); like every internet request, this includes your IP address. Legal basis: your request, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We receive nothing from this request; MET Norway's own privacy statement applies to its servers. The app works without location: enter the conditions by hand.

Motion sensors and barometer

Incline, cant, direction and air pressure are measured on the device when you ask for them and are not sent anywhere.

Target photos

Photos you take or pick for a shot group are stored in the app's own storage on this device, with the group, until you delete the group. They are not part of the backup file and are not sent anywhere, unless you choose SEND THIS TARGET: that opens your e-mail app with the photo (without its location and camera data) and your marks attached, for the Mirage Accuracy team. We use them only to test and improve the hole detection and keep them in the project's internal test set, not published, until you ask for their removal. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time by e-mail; this applies from then on.

Error log

When the app catches an unexpected error, it keeps the error message and the code location on this device: the last five, repeats counted. You can see and delete them in Settings under Error log. Nothing is sent automatically; a bug report attaches them only while its box stays ticked, and you see them in the mail before sending.

E-mails to us

Feedback, bug reports and bullet suggestions open your own e-mail app with a prepared message; nothing is sent until you send it. A feedback mail contains the app version, platform, OS version and app language, plus what you write or attach. We use your mail only to answer it and to improve the app (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and delete it when the matter is settled, at the latest after two years. Target photos: see above. Your e-mail provider carries the mail under its own terms.

Files you share

Range cards and profile files are only created when you ask for them and go only where you send them.

App stores

You get the app from Google Play or the App Store. They process data about the download and purchases, and, if you allow it in your phone's settings, crash and usage statistics, under their own responsibility and privacy policies. From them we see only summarised figures (e.g. installs, crash counts with device model and OS version), never your name or account.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and to withdraw a consent at any time. You can lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, e.g. where you live or the one responsible for us: the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW). Since most of your data stays on your device, you can view, change, export and delete it in the app yourself. For what we hold (e-mails, target photos), write to the address above. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling.
